This week and next week we will be working with one of my favorite programs (Movie Maker 2). If you use a Mac computer you may use iMovie or iLife.

After watching the "Introduction To Digital Storytelling" video (Windows version, Mac version) we will have fun creating our own.

All stories have the following elements ((http://www.storycenter.org):

  • point of view
  • dramatic question
  • emotional content
  • your voice
  • soundtrack
  • economy
  • pacing

Here's great resources on Digital Storytelling:

Other materials:

Here is the PDF file of the Digital Cookbook in case your internet connection does not work.

Audacity is a free sound editor which you will need to download. If you will use Audacity you will need Lame MP3 encoder to convert your sounds to MP3 format. If you have a MAC --use GarageBand.

After a quick introduction from me you will have to create mini movie with pictures and sounds downloaded from the internet. Look at the following tutorial: Movie Maker 2

Be sure to spend time on the Movie Maker 2 site and check out all sample videos and teaching ideas. You also need to decide who you will work with for your digital story.

Student Samples: Gen and Wizard of Oz.
